About us

History

For over 30 years Leeds Faith In Schools has worked to support young people, schools, churches and communities across our city. Founded in 1994 by Christians involved in education across Leeds, we were created to bring the Christian faith to life in both word and action, aiming to bring a consistent, credible Christian presence into every school in Leeds.

Having begun with only one staff member working across a few schools we now have a growing team serving many schools across Leeds, seeking to support in each and every way we can to see young people and school communities thrive.

Our mission remains to be ‘Good News’ to the schools in Leeds, working in a values led, and relational manner to see long term change. We continue to support our schools social, moral, spiritual and cultural responsibilities forging and holding space for the meaningful exploration of faith and belief.

We believe that every young person is uniquely brilliant, valuable and something positive to bring to their community. We hope that through our work young people grow in confidence, find community, become more emotionally aware and engage with their spirituality.

Vision, Values & Beliefs

At Leeds Faith In Schools everything we do is rooted in our Vision, Beliefs and the Values which we are collectively committed to.

In all aspects of our work we are committed to a posture of serving, working to support young people and our schools in every way we can. In each activity, project or interaction we seek to embody the “Good News” of Jesus, and through a commitment to work compassionately display God’s love in word and deed. It is this that shapes our values and practice:

Christ Focused

At Leeds Faith In Schools, our mission is rooted in the teachings and example of Jesus Christ. We strive to embody His love, compassion, and wisdom in all our interactions, and to inspire young people to explore and deepen their own faith.

Relational

Building meaningful relationships is at the heart of what we do. We prioritise creating strong connections with students, staff, and the wider community, fostering a sense of trust, support, and mutual ambition.

Creative

We believe that creativity is a powerful tool for engagement and learning. Our programs and activities are designed to be imaginative and innovative, encouraging young people to think differently and express their unique creativity.

Fun

Joy and laughter are essential elements of our work. We seek to create positive and engaging environments where young people are put at ease, can build friendships, and experience the joy of learning and growing together.

Teamwork

Collaboration and cooperation are key to our success. We work as a team, both within our charity and with external partners, seeking to shape and achieve shared goals and make a lasting impact alongside others.

Valuable

We believe that every individual is valuable and precious. We treat everyone with dignity and respect, recognizing their inherent worth and potential. We aim to create an inclusive environment where all voices are heard and appreciated, advocating for those without a voice.

Professional

We are committed to maintaining high standards of professionalism in all aspects of our work. We are determined to exercise the utmost integrity and accountability in all our actions and interactions, continually striving for excellence.

Committed to Learning

We believe learning is a core principle not just for our young people but also for our team. We encourage continuous personal and professional development, always seeking new knowledge, understanding and tools to improve our work.
